Global Airlines published a letter to all future passengers. The letter from James appeared in The Daily Mail on the 7th June 2025. You can read the full transcript below.

A message from the Founder & CEO of Global, James Asquith

Dear Future Global Passenger,

I really cannot wait to welcome you onboard our beautiful A380 aircraft when we next take to the sky!

When the first passengers boarded 9H-GLOBL in Glasgow on 15 May, it was a moment in aviation history.  The very first Global-owned A380 took off for New York JFK with an air of excitement and the feedback from most of those travelling over the flights that followed was overwhelmingly positive, with some even telling us that it was their favourite flying experience ever.  We got a lot right and we delivered on so many promises and I was humbled by the experience and the feedback.

In aviation you have to expect a bit of turbulence and we know that not everything was perfect on the first flight.  I am so proud of my team, our partners and of course the amazing crew, who went to such enormous lengths to build on the lessons of every single flight and deliver the top-notch service we will become known for.

I’ve had a dream and a vision since I was eight years old. I’ve travelled on more than 200 airlines and I know that passengers deserve better. Aviation is a funny old industry. It takes a long time to do anything, costs an incredible amount – time, money, blood, sweat and tears – and 9 times out of 10 you find every little thing is more complicated than you had planned.

It is virtually impossible to explain just how much goes into getting an aircraft the size of an A380 into the sky flying passengers off on holiday, to business meetings, to reconnect with friends and families and to explore the world.  It is an enormous undertaking and takes a level of dedication and commitment that is rarely seen.  Most that try don’t get anywhere near to the goal, and many thought we would be the same.

But we made it.  The aircraft we own flew passengers between Barcelona and Berlin and London Gatwick and from Glasgow and Manchester across to JFK. We’ve flown multiple times – reliably, on time, in great comfort and with a lot of fun!

Our first owned A380 flew passengers transatlantic twice in the last fortnight. We worked with our partners at Hi Fly who operated the flights and we developed the service and the product onboard to a very high standard.  The catering was a major hit as we brought private jet level food to a commercial operation for the very first time.  And let me tell you, it was mouth-watering in every cabin – with expert passengers stating that is rivals the very best of the rest.

I’ve always loved the story of the underdog. Aviation history is littered with those stories and I’m told we are the latest. However, I don’t see it that way.  I simply see the desire to improve aviation and the passenger experience, flying the world’s largest ever commercial airliner. Simple as that.  It’s tough.  It’s the hardest job I have ever had. But we are on our way to building a new airline in the future and we want you to come on the journey with us.

There is a lot of noise out there, but it will not distract us from the task in hand. I’m delighted with the response we’ve had from the real passengers. Yes we have a lot to learn and yes we will continue to improve and develop that world-leading service. You’ll see how things develop when we next take to the skies. Just like every business in this industry, you have to constantly reinvent and reposition to try and stay ahead of the game.  We are no different and we cannot wait to show you onboard.

See you again soon in the skies above!

James
